      Before the competition/record attempt the judges measure a rope that is soaked in water and then extended using a weight. They mark the length of the rope when stretched. During the competition the bottom weight is placed at the announced depth and a tag is dropped done at the line. If the freediver comes back with the tag, he has reached his target depth. Furthermore the freediver wears an AIDA santioned Suunto dive computer, to see how deep he went if he didn’t reach his announced depth.
